Its nutritional characteristics make them one of the most recommended foods both to reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes and its treatment. Here you\u00b4ll find a number reasons, you name them, why you should include them in your diet 2 or 3 time a week.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-1 fusion_builder_column_1_2 1_2 fusion-one-half fusion-column-first\" style=\"width:48%; margin-right: 4%;margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:10px;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-flex-column-wrapper-legacy\" style=\"background-position:left top;background-repeat:no-repeat;-webkit-background-size:cover;-moz-background-size:cover;-o-background-size:cover;background-size:cover;padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px;\"><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\"><p>There are very little aliments that are undeniable healthy, and that is legumes: beans, peas, lentils, and so on. Legumes are included in the most recent and appealing diet guides; such as <a href=\"https:\/\/latam.patiadiabetes.com\/en\/food-self-management-to-prevent-type-2-diabetes-risk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the\u00a0Healthy Eating Plate\u00a0of the Harvard School of Public Health<\/a> or the Nutritional Triangle of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gezondleven.be\/materialen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Flamenco Institute for Healthy Living<\/a> (Vlaams Instituut Gezond Leven). And the value of legumes is undeniable despite that is somehow brush aside by wide portion of the population.<\/p>\n<p>Except for allergies or intolerances there is no much scientific literature against legumes, at least I couldn\u00b4t find that much. On the contrary, there is strong push toward its presence in our diet. They are also rich in fiber and RS, which may account for some of their proposed health benefits, and may reduce risk of ischemic heart disease and diabetes.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-4 fusion_builder_column_3_5 3_5 fusion-three-fifth fusion-column-first\" style=\"width:58.4%; margin-right: 4%;margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:10px;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-flex-column-wrapper-legacy\" style=\"background-position:left top;background-repeat:no-repeat;-webkit-background-size:cover;-moz-background-size:cover;-o-background-size:cover;background-size:cover;padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px;\"><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-5\"><p>More specific, and close to diabetes, the case <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC5573179\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Frequency of Food Consumption and Self-reported Diabetes among Adult Men and Women in India<\/em><\/a> has confirmed findings from high income countries that diabetes among adult Indians, which is large and increasing, might be contained by regular consumption of vegetarian foods including legumes, fruits and dairy products.<\/p>\n<p>It is the American Diabetes Association, a worldwide reference in diabetes, that exposes a list of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.diabetes.org\/food-and-fitness\/food\/what-can-i-eat\/making-healthy-food-choices\/diabetes-superfoods.html?referrer=http:\/\/www.diabetes.org\/food-and-fitness\/food\/what-can-i-eat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">diabetes superfoods<\/a> that starts with legumes: Kidney, pinto, navy, or black beans are packed with vitamins and minerals such as magnesium and potassium. They are very high in fiber too. Beans do contain carbohydrates, but \u00bd cup also provides as much\u00a0protein\u00a0as an ounce of meat without the saturated\u00a0fat.<\/p>\n<p>It is more than likely that the ability of legumes to reduce the risk of diabetes and to be part of their dietary treatment, responds to their ability to reduce glycemic load of a given intake. It could be for a poor image of them as a rather humble and cheap product; to the \u201csupposed\u201d difficulty of cook legumes; or to the described gastrointestinal inconveniences. The bottom line is we eat very little legumes.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-7 fusion_builder_column_1_1 1_1 fusion-one-full fusion-column-first fusion-column-last\" style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:10px;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-flex-column-wrapper-legacy\" style=\"background-position:left top;background-repeat:no-repeat;-webkit-background-size:cover;-moz-background-size:cover;-o-background-size:cover;background-size:cover;padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px;\"><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-8\"><p>It is convenient that at least (and I underline \u201cat least\u201d) we have legumes two or three times a week all year round. We must run away from prejudices:<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-9\"><ul>\n<li><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload  wp-image-8610 alignright\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns%3D%27http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg%27%20width%3D%27220%27%20height%3D%27239%27%20viewBox%3D%270%200%20220%20239%27%3E%3Crect%20width%3D%27220%27%20height%3D%27239%27%20fill-opacity%3D%220%22%2F%3E%3C%2Fsvg%3E\" data-orig-src=\"https:\/\/latam.patiadiabetes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/IMG_6378-e1515759104616.jpg\" alt=\"Legumbres prevenir diabetes 2\" width=\"220\" height=\"239\" \/>Legumes are not \u201cchic\u201d: think of health, taste and real food. Forget fashion and trendies\u2026 Eat legumes.<\/li>\n<li>Difficult to cook: no way. The only skill you need to cook legumes is time. It takes a little time, that is true, but it is worthy time spent.<\/li>\n<li>Regarding the mentioned gastrointestinal inconveniences, not to call them by its name, there are tricks that help to reduce the effect: from cutting boiling twice or three times and cooling the legumes, to ad some plants like chamomile, fennel, lemon balm, caraway, turmeric, anise\u2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-8 fusion_builder_column_1_1 1_1 fusion-one-full fusion-column-first fusion-column-last\" style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:10px;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-flex-column-wrapper-legacy\" style=\"background-position:left top;background-repeat:no-repeat;-webkit-background-size:cover;-moz-background-size:cover;-o-background-size:cover;background-size:cover;padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px;\"><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-10\"><blockquote>\n<p>Very few advices are stronger, and riskless, when health promotion than encouraging eating legumes in our diet. Do not hesitate, and eat them two or three time a week.
