Muchas descubren que tienen diabetes cuando se enfrentan a problemas como la visi\u00f3n borrosa o problemas del coraz\u00f3n. La diabetes tipo 2 lleva generalmente asociado un periodo de prediabetes en el que los niveles de az\u00facar en sangre son elevados, pero no lo suficiente para el diagn\u00f3stico firme de la diabetes tipo 2.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-3\"><p>La mayor\u00eda de las personas desconocen que tienen prediabetes hasta que es demasiado tarde. Cuanto m\u00e1s tiempo pase sin diagnosticar ni tratar, mayor ser\u00e1 la probabilidad de que se convierta irremediablemente en una diabetes tipo 2. Se estima que entre un 20% y un 25% de la poblaci\u00f3n adulta podr\u00eda estar padeciendo prediabetes en pa\u00edses desarrollados y no lo saben.<\/p>\n<p>Tener prediabetes y tener detectado un riesgo gen\u00e9tico elevado de padecer diabetes tipo 2 hace que debamos extremar las precauciones en el control y cambio de estilo de vida.
